This site features a collection of drawings, caricatures and paintings I have completed over the past decades working as a newspaper and commercial illustrator, with my work appearing in ‘The Australian’, ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’ and ‘The Bulletin. I have also contributed illustrations to television news-programs such as Channel Nine’s the ‘Sunday’ program. My clients included top Australian advertising agencies such as JWT and George Pattersons, The Australian Opera and major Banks, such as Westpac. I have won the top award as Caricaturist Of The Year and the 'AWARD Advertising' Silver Illustration Award as well as several other award nominations throughout the years.

In recent times I have concentrated on being active in the Music business, recording in my own studio and doing live performances. The art making has focussed on paintings and drawings of animals and scenes inspired by The Southern Highlands.

I am guided by the idea that ‘God lies in the detail’, and studies of Masters from different periods in art have informed the direction and development of my work. Studies from life, portraits from live sitters and self-portraits using a mirror. I have learned this technique from Sir William Dargie many years ago, receiving one on one tuition from this renowned and esteemed Australian portrait painter, best known for his painting of ‘The Wattle Queen’.

I have a degree in Fine Arts from Sydney University and am qualified in both Music and Art Education. I have therefore experienced both the practical and academic sides of these areas. I have the experience and knowledge to know ‘what I like’ in this artistic world - I know what is of value to me or what I regard as trivial. Dargie taught me about the difference between applied and fine art, a view, that I still believe has currency in visual art today, although not broadly bothered with. In a world of cultural and artistic relativism - everything is Art. From Yoko Ono’s half toilet seats to Mark Rothko’s blank canvas, or even Millie Brown puking on Lady Gaga during a live performance - it’s all Art.

However, the work on this site has a more traditional character. It represents a journey in Art of studies of the world around me.
